Double Opt-in

How to configure Double opt-in verification flows for your supporters (Optional)

Double opt-in adds a confirmation step before someone is fully subscribed. Though not mandatory, it is often required or expected in some countries, especially when collecting supporter sign-ups to your database from non-transactional sources, e.g.: website contact forms or gamification campaigns.

This setup is handled in collaboration with the Data Talks Customer Success team. Contact support via in-app chat to get started.

Setup Steps

  1. Prepare a Transactional Email Template (done by user):

    • Include a button that activates the double opt-in when clicked.

  2. Define Trigger Source(s) (done by Data Talks):

    • Example: A contact form submission from a website.

  3. Configure the Preference Center (done by Data Talks):

    • This becomes mandatory when using double opt-in.

    • In Admin > Preference Center > Preference Fields Tab:

      • Set the preference default to false

      • Ensure the preference mappings are in place from data sources

  4. Enable System Actions (done by Data Talks):

    • Data Talks Customer Success applies changes to existing CDP profiles

    • Activates the live double opt-in flow

Note: Double opt-in emails are transactional and will be delivered within up to 5 minutes after ingesting the signup into the CDP database. They do not appear in Campaign Analytics or on CDP profile Sendouts tabs.
