[Set Up Your Account](https://help.datatalks.se/getting-started-with-data-talks?hsLang=en#set-up-your-account) # User Roles ## Manage platform access with evolving, role-based permissions. ### **Overview** Data Talks CDP provides a straightforward yet evolving access control system that allows organizations to manage user permissions with ease. While all users are initially granted administrative access until another role type is defined, organizations can configure role-based access to tailor the experience for different team members and use cases. ### **Default Access Rights** By default, when a new user is added to a new organization in Data Talks CDP, they are assigned the **Admin** role. This grants them full access to the platform, including: - All menu items in the sidebar - Administrative features such as user invitations, role management, and system configurations - Full visibility and edit rights across dashboards, segments and sendouts This approach enables quick onboarding and full feature access for users who are actively building and managing your CDP environment. ### **Custom Roles and Permissions** To offer greater control, **custom roles** can be created under [**Admin → Roles**](https://app.datatalks.se/admin/roles). These roles allow organizations to define user types with more limited access based on operational needs. ![Screenshot 2025-05-15 at 22.20.54](https://help.datatalks.se/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-05-15%20at%2022.20.54.png?width=670&height=189&name=Screenshot%202025-05-15%20at%2022.20.54.png) #### Current permission settings include: - Restricting access to the **Admin** section in the sidebar - Limiting visibility of specific **dashboards** or creating new charts using certain **data sources** in the Analytics Framework Once an additional Role is defined other than the system default Admin, new users can be invited as Admins or with another user right. ![Screenshot 2025-05-15 at 22.21.07](https://help.datatalks.se/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-05-15%20at%2022.21.07.png?width=670&height=321&name=Screenshot%202025-05-15%20at%2022.21.07.png) #### **Super Admin Role** The CDP provides also a Super Admin role — designed for advanced users who need deeper access to the underlying data structure of the CDP. A Super Admin role can be assigned by the Data Talks Customer Success team only, after passing the onboarding and initial training sessions. This role grants access to key areas such as the Golden Record, Collisions, and the Integration Library, and within the Analytics Framework, allows Super Admins to add or delete data sources and relationships. Additionally, Super Admins can add or edit new data points on Data Onboarding (only not yet deployed data points), and run bulk operations (opt-in/out, preference update, deletion) on already saved segments. It is ideal for technically skilled users who have a comprehensive understanding of the data structure of the CDP. ### **What’s Next** We’re actively enhancing role capabilities. We would love to hear your input about the ideal access control system for your organization.
